MS BI # 85 – PowerPivot #2 – Download , Install , Connect to SQL Server and Getting Started

Hi friends

We have started analyzing PowerPivot a way back in Sept 2011.

I have only one post written on it which as below, In which I have explained all basic stuff related to it :

    How to download PowerPivot

    Just go to Bing and Google It Smile !

    Click on above specified link will open following page, Click on Download

    Installation Selection based on 64 Bit or 32 Bit

    Above link will forward you on Microsoft Download Center page

    Select your installation based on 64 bit or 32 Bit.

    Once download is complete complete all installation step.

     

    How to open PowerPivot inside excel

    Lets get started !

    Open Excel as normal as you are opening before.

    Also observe during starting windows we can see addin about PowerPivot  inside excel starting page.

    This will so quick and fast you hardly able to observe it ! , Forget if you are not able to see , No problem move ahead.

    We can see PowerPivot onside excel tab/ ribbon image

    Zooming bit !!

    On clicking above tab we can see many interesting things

    Now lets click on PowerPivot Window to open PowerPivot dashboard , Which will open following screen

    Now lets see some of features to play with it !

    How to connect to SQL Server using PowerPivot

    Click on From Database Tab which open multiple option for Data Source

    How to fetch table from SQL Server inside PowerPivot

    Now go on selecting “From SQL Server ” on above tab follow setps as shown

    Select Database where you want to analyze

    Select required table and Relation

    PowerPivote will import all data for you

    Also shows you how many record it have transformed
